March 2025 Newsletter
Hello PSHA Family. We’re back after a hiatus that was probably far too long. My
apologies for being a little silent on the Newsletter front. But … the time is now as the
season is right around the corner. Truly, we’re about 4 weeks away from show season
getting started!
I haven’t written much since Convention in October. It was a great event and we made
progress on improving our organization. We’re working on making the season better
and easier for you to enjoy.
As far as making the season better, our State Finals team has been hard at work
already. Most of the awards for State Finals are nearly all secured and there are some
cool things coming. A new Buckle Vendor with some good looking buckles in the works.
We’re starting to dial in Saddle styles and there are a few new items that look like they’ll
be really popular.
Thank you to Melonie for her hard work on getting these things done, but a bigger thank
you to all of you that sponsored awards or found sponsors. It’s truly what makes the
awards possible.
Also, start thinking about how you want to be a part of making State Finals come
together. We’ll still need volunteers to make sure things are organized and we can get
things done.
Interstate: Interstate is back in Vancouver at the Clark County Fairgrounds. This is
really exciting as we’re back where attendance and the competition is sure to be at its
highest level! With that I want to make sure you all give a big thank you and support to
our Washington Princesses Maddy Olson and Kaydn Collins! These fine young ladies
have stepped to the forefront and are doing a great job. They are representing our state
and PSHA well. Go get ‘em ladies!
Junior Royalty: Yes, that says Junior Royalty. This was an idea and topic that came up
at Convention. Here is a quick note from the Junior Royalty Committee:
I am excited to announce our new PSHA JUNIOR ROYALTY PROGRAM!!! This
wouldn't be possible without an incredible group of gals that agreed to become the
Junior Royalty Committee! Kelbi Bower, Andrea Croft and Maddy Olson have graciously
offered their time, and individual skill sets to make this vision a reality and I am forever
grateful! Below is a snippet from our Junor Royalty Packet (which is also attached) to
give you a better idea of what it's all about! We can't wait to hear from you and get
rolling with our Junor Royalty Program!!!
-Melonie Parks
PSHA Junior Royalty Program is an incentive-based fundraising initiative designed for
our youngest Patterned Speed Horse Association (PSHA) members, 15 years of age or
younger (As of August 1st of current season). This program provides a fantastic
opportunity for Junior members to raise funds for PSHA with a particular focus on
supporting State Finals, while earning exciting prizes as they achieve set fundraising
tiers. This is also a great way to share more about PSHA and promote this great family-
oriented horse organization!
What Is the Junior Royalty Program? The Junior Royalty Program is an incentive-
based fundraising program where Junior members raise money for PSHA and they will
be able to earn prizes along the way, making fundraising a rewarding experience. It is
an excellent opportunity for our Junior aged members to become more involved and
learn life-long skills. The Junior members will be recognized at shows throughout the
year as well as at State Finals for their fundraising efforts.
When Does It Happen? Each fundraising cycle will begin on August 1st of each PSHA
competition year and continue until July 31st of the following year. Any Junior member
interested in joining the program can declare their participation at any time during this
period. They will earn prizes based on the money raised within the fundraising cycle
year they join.
Where Can Fundraising Take Place? Junior members can raise funds in any manner
they are comfortable, except during PSHA shows. This is because PSHA shows are a
critical fundraising venue for the Interstate Princesses, and we wish to avoid "double-
dipping" from our membership or detracting from Interstate funding. We encourage
Junior members to speak with local businesses they may have a connection with, as
well as family members and friends who may not currently know about PSHA.
Why Should You Participate? The Junior Royalty Program aims to raise funds for
PSHA while engaging our youth in acquiring valuable lifelong skills in fundraising and
improving their public speaking abilities. Through this program, junior members can help
maintain a high-quality show experience and ensure we offer great awards at State
Finals. We are excited to see our young members participating in this initiative and look
forward to their contributions. Together, we can continue supporting PSHA and make
our events even more spectacular.
