September 2025 Newsletter

You all deserve HUGE Congratulations!! It has been a whirlwind of events since late July.

State Finals and Interstate have both come and gone and we’re just finally getting a chance to take a breath … at least I am … sort of.

As I now have a chance to reflect on the last 6 weeks, I couldn’t be more proud of you as an organization. State Finals was a fantastic success with amazing times, including a Record-Breaking Run! For all that State Finals was, it’s possible Interstate was better!

State Finals: Thank you to everyone that helped pitch in make sure all of the events went smoothly. A big thank you to the crew that took initiative to learn to work the arena at State Finals. It alleviated some burden off Lesa and the team that have done it for years AND it sets us up with knowledgeable people for the years ahead!

The action didn’t disappoint either. There were so many fast times and incredible rides. None more amazing than Tanya Plagerman and Jiminy breaking a 44-year-old record in Key Race. The record was owned by Dan Jagla and Leo Jack at 7.769. Now Tanya and Jiminy will be etched in the record books with an unbelievable 7.748! Congratulations!

See below for a bit more from our State Finals Chair, Melonie Parks – who deserves another round of applause for her work.

Interstate: I am not breaking news here that you came together and won by 200 points – 1686 to 1486. But what I think is incredible and worth celebrating is the way that you won! The Team Effort. The Friendship. The Comradery. The way that you carried yourself through both success and adversity. You should all be proud. When I have members of Oregon commenting how amazed they are by how close our team is and there is no drama. It makes me so thankful for how special you all are.

Jojo Craiger and Stella won the Sr. High Point! And while we didn’t win the Junior Saddle, we had 6 of the top 8 Juniors. On the senior side, we had 4 of the top 5 and 5 of the top 7. We also had 10 of the top 15 seniors.

Also, it’s worth noting that in last newsletter I mentioned how fast Cruz is … well that amazing horse and his two ladies took home 4 buckles and ran clean in all 5 events!!! Way to go Amy and Wylie!

Congrats to Maddy Olson, our new Interstate Queen! I am so grateful for how Kadyn and Maddy represented Washington and Interstate this year. You both were amazing! I feel that you both have re-shaped the way that we look at being Princess and how we raise money for Interstate. Thank you for all you did this year and setting an example for years ahead, including our Junior Royalty!

Speaking of Junior Royalty, be sure to read below with notes from Melonie about the Junior Royalty program!

For the annual meeting, we may be in for a shorter meeting as of now, there aren’t a lot of rule proposals. But we look forward to great discussions about how we make our organization better as well as electing our Executive committee!

I think we’re reaching the end of the news from me … but keep reading for notes from Melonie on State Finals and Junior Royalty!!!

See you soon!
